About Women’s & Gender Studies

Explore the complex roles of women and gender in society.

The Associate of Arts in Women’s and Gender Studies is a two-year program of study with courses that fulfill graduation requirements for the college and transferable requirements to many CSU, UC, and private universities. Through departmental core courses and interdepartmental courses, students focus on women’s and gender experiences taught from a feminist perspective

Courses can be taken in any order and completed in as little as one semester. Below is a sample two-semester course sequence, based on the principle of maximizing students’ paid job experience opportunities by becoming trained as a Project SURVIVE peer educators during their first semester of study. The experience as peer educators was highlighted as a job-readiness priority by members of our industry advisory board during both our 2018-19 and 2019-20 meetings.
